Strippers / Degassers
For high efficiency removal of volatile organic compounds (VOC's) found in ground water supplies, industrial wastewater and process effluent.
Also known as CO2 Degassers, these strippers are excellent for use in removing carbon dioxide from bore water.
Removing carbon dioxide from bore water is a typical application. Disolved carbon dioxide makes water acidic, and this can result in costly corrosion of pipes and plants as well as potentially upsetting your process. One answer is to treat the water with chemicals such as sodium hydroxide or lime. But these chemicals are expensive and can have unwanted side effects such as scale formation.
A far simpler way is to pump the water through a stripper. The water is sprayed into the top of the tower, and falls over the packing and down into the tank below. Air is blown into the base of the stripper, and flows up through the tower countercurrent to the water. On the way up, the air removes or "strips" the vast majority of carbon dioxide. As a result the pH of the water increases significantly - all without the use of any chemicals.
