Fertiliser Plants
Fibreglass is ideal for handling the extremely corrosive fluoride gases and liquors at fertiliser plants. The fibreglass is corrosion resistant not only on the inside, but outside as well, minimising long-term maintenance. As well as the fluoride scrubbers themselves, Armatec also provides hoods, ducts, fans, stacks, cyclones, tanks, piping, coatings and other equipment needed. Armatec’s chemcial engineers work closely with plant personnel to optimise designs, equipment operation, and operational costs.
Projects
A complete hygiene scrubber system including a venturi scrubber was installed to overcome worsening conditions in the Ravensdown Hornby fertiliser manufacturing plant, as new higher fluoride rocks were used.
Fluoride fumes given off in the manufacture of SSP (single super phosphate) fertiliser are extremely toxic and must be scrubbed. The current scrubbers at the plant were limiting fertiliser production, to the point of determining the rate at which the plant could run and when it could run.
